Cat & Whisker started with a simple frustration: most “best cat product” lists online read like they were written by someone who has never owned a cat, ranking products by affiliate payout instead of by whether a cat would actually use the thing. If you’ve ever bought a highly-rated cat tree that gathered dust in a corner, or a litter box that looked great in photos and fell apart in three months, you already know the problem.
This site is the opposite of that. Every product featured here is chosen because it earned its place — not because it pays the highest commission.
Who this is for
Cat & Whisker is for owners who treat their cat as a genuine member of the household and want products that reflect that — not the cheapest option that technically does the job, and not a luxury item for its own sake either. The goal is always the same: does this actually make life better for the cat, and for the person who loves them?
That means covering the categories that matter most for that kind of owner — litter boxes, cat furniture, GPS trackers, nutrition, and more — with the same standard applied every time: real specifications, honest tradeoffs, and no filler.
How we choose what to recommend
Every recommendation on this site goes through the same process before it’s published:
- Research first. Specifications, materials, and claims are checked against manufacturer detail and verified customer feedback — not just repeated from a product listing.
- Honesty over completeness. If a product doesn’t hold up under that scrutiny, it doesn’t make the list, even if it means a shorter roundup.
- No bargain-bin framing. You won’t find “cheapest,” “budget hacks,” or deal-chasing language here. The question is always whether something is worth owning, not whether it’s the lowest price.
- Real tradeoffs, stated plainly. A product built for a studio apartment isn’t the same as one built for a multi-cat household, and this site will tell you which is which rather than pretending one size fits all.
Independently run, built to last
Cat & Whisker is run by one person, not a content team working through a quota. That’s a deliberate choice — it means every guide reflects real research rather than templated copy, and it means the site grows slowly, on purpose, rather than publishing volume for its own sake.
As the site grows, so will the range of products, categories, and partners it works with — always held to the same standard: would this be good enough for a cat who’s genuinely well cared for?
